We cater to anyone who wants to fish, learn new techniques or just view the breathtaking scenery. Whether you prefer to fly fish for trout, back troll for salmon or use spinning or bait casting gear for stripers, we can accommodate you. You will be fishing out of, or transported by, jet boats specifically designed to navigate the river safely and comfortably.
Northern California is host to many great waters that are accessible to anglers. However the upper and lower Sacramento River boasts fantastic fishing opportunities all year long for almost all species of freshwater fish found in California. This phenomenal watershed is the home to native wild trout, steelhead, salmon, striped bass, spotted bass, catfish, shad, black bass, smallmouth bass and other species. At any time of the year, there is always something to catch. From Orland it is just a short drive to many productive stretches of the Sacramento River. The town of Orland is located about 90 minutes North of Sacramento on Interstate 5.
The Jewels of the Sacramento River
Striped Bass: Spring & Fall
The Striper fishery in our area has grown to become quite productive. We can fish early mornings, late evenings, or join us for a full day trip. The Stripers hit flies, surface and subsurface plugs, jigs and live bait. Stripers can be found from Colusa to Los Molinos.
Shad: May-July
Our shad trips are one of the most popular excursions we offer. We fish the local waters daily and are constantly updated with the fishing conditions. You will be provided with a hearty lunch and non-alcoholic beverages upon request. A day of shad fishing begins around noon and ends 8:00 pm, or you can fish from 7 am to 3 pm. The shad season begins around the first week of May and ends in the middle of July.
Salmon: July-December
The salmon season opens mid July and goes through the middle of December. Salmon can be taken on wrapped flatfish, cured roe, spinners, and sometimes flies. We traditionally back troll flatfish or bounce roe for salmon unless otherwise requested. Salmon fishing has become a favorite pastime so please book early.
Steelhead: Fall & Winter
The lower Sacramento River has long been overlooked as having some of the best steelhead fishing. The steelhead start showing up in the early fall and run through the winter. The fish are somewhat smaller than their coastal cousins but their abundance make up for it. The fish range in size from half pounders to 6 and 8 pounds. There are great spots to wade for the fly fishing enthusiast
Trout : All Year
Trout fishing with flies and/or bait is a year round affair. Depending on the weather and water flows, good trout fishing with flies can be expected from March through August. During the winter months the trout key in on egg patterns due to the spawning of salmon in the area which makes the trout fishing fast and furious.
Sturgeon: All Year
Sturgeon trips or combination sturgeon/salmon trips can be arranged. These fish fight hard and are often times over 6 feet long! Book a sturgeon trip and see one of these prehistoric fish for yourself.
Scenic River Tour
We offer sightseeing trips for the nature enthusiast. Bountiful wildlife can be observed during the ride in our comfortable jet boat. Osprey, bald eagles, blue herons, great egrets, snowy egrets, waterfowl, beavers, otters, deer, turkey, etc. are seen quite often. Hourly rates can be arranged to suit your needs..
